Should you disclose your caregiving in a job interview?


How come nothing has barely been said about caregiving and job hunting?

I saw this post from Fast Company, Should you disclose your pregnancy in a job interview.

A friend of mine stated that one should not disclose that they are caregiving “It’s like saying that your pregnant.”


According to the Family Caregiver Alliance, over 1/4  of the U.S. adult population or 29% provides care to someone on some level.

In the office already, at least 1 in 6 employees is already caregiving. Its a face of life just like pregnancy.

This number is more likely to increase over time with a factor of  aging Baby Boomers.

What’s a caregiver to do?

Caregivers have been known to sacrifice their career, with an impact of millions of dollars in productivity.

Caregivers have the skills to manage and balance than they get credit for.

Research the company to see if they offer benefits like flextime, employee assistance programs or unpaid leave.
