A Generation Xer's caregiving journey

What do/did you call your grandparents?

I just listened to the tail end of the “Regis and Kelly” daytime talk show, and the question were everyone sent in their emails was what do they preferred to be called.

Some of the answers varied, from first names, nicknames and everything in between.

As for me, you already know the answer to what I call my own. It can be Gram, Grandma, Abuela or Bubbi, depending on what mood I’m in.

I also have an aunt who prefers to be called “Nana”.

What was and continues to be instilled in me that there has to be a title (a sign of respect) in what one addressed their elders.

As one of my friends puts it, “What say you?” What do/did you call your grandparents?
