If February started like this, I don’t want to know what would Valentine’s Day, let alone Leap Year Day would entail.

First off, just in case you didn’t hear, Komen decided to stop providing funding to Planned Parenthood.

There was the Pfizer recall of birth control pills.

Then a few days later, Komen decided to restore funding to Planned Parenthood.

On the bright side, we all get to red today for National Wear Red Day for Heart Disease for Women.

If we get through this, then we will have more reasons than we can count to celebrate Women’s History Month in March.

Even though I wasn’t physically there at #altsummit, I felt the vibes traveling all over Twitter and all over the world. The conference tweets served as confirmation that I was indeed on the right track for moving to the next step in my life.

One of the tweets that brought that message home was this one.

I’ve already started making stuff from the things I found on Pinterest. I haven’t taken the actual pictures yet (I’ll save that for another post.) However, I did create a wall of things that I did make so far.

Went through the storage and feeling like it’s more like animal kingdom.

I can honestly say that I was not happy with who or where I was in 2011.

In 2012, I want to be free. Free of the things that have no purpose or meaning in my life.

By freeing myslef, I will have more time, energy and space  for the things that matter.

2011 was a year of milestones in the family. This year we celebrated 3. While I am grateful to have been there and experience them, it’s important to remember that we don’t always need a formal reason to celebrate. Just having the quiet time and space to blog with a cup of tea and/or coffee is all the reason there is to celebrate.

OK, I admit it. I watched Oprah’s LifeClass.

One of the quotes that stuck out is that if you don’t learn the lesson, you are bound to repeat it until you get it.

The major lesson I re-learned was the importance of saving. It literally hit me over the head.

My great-grandmother always saved even though she cleaned houses, which was what most  women did to work in those days. No matter how tight things were, she always found a way to save something.

So that’s the advice I want to pass on, save something, because you never know how long the storm will last.

 

I love this photo, maybe because its the only photo I took on instagram, but also it’s like a wink from my late Mom. She had these ceramic cats for as long as I remembered. It’s like she knew I would have 2 cats before I knew. Adding that 70′s touch added just the right touch to the photo.
