Grandma just saw Regis and Kelly on TV during crash course week. Today’s Lesson was one on technology.

She saw some of the tools of my trade and understood a little bit better how I bring in the bacon and why I sometimes have to bring the laptop with me.

Pop tops for charity

I am currently visiting my family in Orlando. I was assigned dishwashing duty. Next to the sink was a plastic container full of Pop tops.

I asked my father, what was the deal with the Pop tops. He then went to explain how he’s collecting them, for Ronald McDonald house to help sick kids and their families.

I think that it kool that a retiree how paid their dues has found a small way to give back.

Grandma caught this story on the news yesterday. Personally, as a granddaughter, I don’t understand why she would want to force her grandmother out of the home she has know for so long. I mean, the grandmother’s not sick or anything, she should honor her grandmother’s wishes.

What I would like to know is where is the rest of the family?

We know that this has been going on for a while now. However, there may have been a breakthrough.

One quote from Peter Walsh rings true. That you cannot clean up without the person’s permission.

The best thing I can do, even though its difficult is to support and gently ask where she is at and how she feels.

This also proven to be a great way for me to discuss with Grandma what to do if the situation arises.

How do you bring up a sensitive topic with your elder?
