Teaching Elders to be environmentally responsible

October 21st, 2007

Being that last Monday was Blog Action Day, this was the day that the blogosphere focused on the environment. Its easy for most of us to help the environment, but what about the elderly?

Besides having Grandma recycling bottles , I also convinced her to change her lightbulbs to energy efficient ones.

How I managed to do this was that I brought a 4-pack of 15 watt sprial light bulbs and I gave my grandmother 2 of them. I told her since they use less energy, she doesn’t have to change them as often, like with a regular 60 to 75 watt light bulb, which keeps me at ease since I know she won’t be trying to change them herself with a ladder (Yikes!)

Plus the proceeds in commission from the lightbulbs above will go to an environmental education. If anyone knows of organizations who educate about the environment, please feel free to let me know.
